Lord, If It's You! Apostle Paul exhorts in Romans 12:1 that true and proper worship comes by offering ourselves to God as a living sacrifice. A "living sacrifice" is paradoxical and contradictory as a sacrifice is usually associated with death, but here ironically we are made more alive than we could ever hope to be. Pointedly Paul instructs that real and authentic transformation comes when we no longer conform to the ways and patterns of the world that this new-found awakening and renewing brings with it the ability to see, think, believe, hope, and function differently. The exchange, the benefits and the incomprehensible bounty that our surrender to Him brings, is that our service our servitude is grafted and rooted in His strength, His capacity, His ability, His knowledge and His wisdom. With this much support, backing, sustenance and provision it's humbling and sobering, invigorating and liberating. "I, therefore, the 'prisoner' of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4:1-5. We have a mandate, a call, like no other time in our history. A time where God is positioning people from obscurity into the light and purpose of destiny. A new season, a new intake of those ready to embrace Gods mandate, Gods mantle. What has God been revealing to you to your spirit, what has He been impressing on your heart to do? "Whatever you do work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord not for human masters, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance, it is the Lord Christ whom you serve" Colossians 3:24 Isaiah 6: 8 "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" I believe God is knocking on the doors of our hearts, calling and beseeching those to whom He will empower and equip to be bold and brazen in stepping out into the work He has ordained and set apart for us. No longer should we look at the impossible but look to the one who makes impossible possible. In the same way that Peter when he saw Jesus walk on water, filled with fear and faith He called out to Jesus, "Lord if it's you bid me to come!", "tell me to come to you on the water." Jesus defied the law of gravity. Peter hoped to do the same. What an insanely outrageous proposition! "Take courage it is I; do not be afraid" And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came toward Jesus" Matthew 14:28-29. Just one word from Jesus propelled Peter out of the boat and onto the water! If only we can grasp the depth and gravity of this exchange between Jesus and Peter I believe we too would step out of the boat of reason and logic in exchange for walking on water, defying the laws of nature themselves in answering the call to the one who says, "take courage it is I do not be afraid" "Come!" |
